Advocacy 101:
Advocacy is the public support for or recommendation of a particular cause or policy.
The LPMA is a respected voice for licensed psychiatrists in Louisiana. We represent you and your patients before the state legislature, federal and state agencies, health plans, licensing boards, the judicial branch and more.
For the third year in a row, LPMA has joined the
Physician Coalition of Louisiana. The coalition serves as a unified voice for all physician groups across Louisiana by educating patients, lawmakers and the public and by influencing policy and legislation. The coalition provides up-to-date information as well as educational materials about issues affecting the practice of medicine and patient health and strives to ensure that physicians continue to help shape decisions that affect patients and physician practices in Louisiana.
Below are photos from the Legislative Reception held on April 9. This event is hosted by Coalition partners and includes physician members, guests and legislators.

National Advocacy
The LPMA continues to work closely with the APA as a unified District Branch. In 2024, the LPMA received a grant from the APA's Committee on Advocacy and Litigation Funding (CALF). The funds will be used to coordinate local legislative and regulatory efforts that affect your profession.
